The sizes worth checking before you order

Most of what goes wrong with a small part is a size, not a defect. These are the numbers worth checking against the car before the part arrives.

Measure these, not the car badge

  • Cup holder: across the top of the opening, not the bottom. Holders taper, and an insert is sized to the mouth.
  • Windscreen shade: the glass width at its widest and the height from the dashboard to the top of the glass.
  • Hitch receiver: the square opening, which on passenger vehicles is usually two inches.
  • Door edge trim: the run in feet, doubled if you are doing both sides, plus a foot for mistakes.
  • Battery terminal: post diameter and which side is positive. They are different sizes for a reason.
